KIMSSA - Kidane Mehret Student Self-Help Association
Based in an underfunded sector of Ethiopia, KIMSSA provides educational resources for students who come from low-income families. KIMSSA ensures that students become an active part of the country's work force after graduation, and don't fall back to the poverty where they had come. In the summer of 2014, I volunteered at this organization, teaching basic English and art to children ages 5 to 13. Seeing such ambition and yearning for proper education from children who practically had nothing prompted me to help them. After being elected the president of the Ethiopian-Eritrean club and ambassador of KIMSSA, I raised more than $300 and collected over 2000 lighty used and new supplies {notebooks, binders, books, Ti-84 Calculators, bags, pencils, etc) to donate to the organization. Please watch the video I created below and contact me for ways to donate.
